The effectiveness of The Picciano Method™ is demonstrated in a pilot project that began on October 6, 2000. Since its inception, a group of four adults and two elementary school children have participated in the program for various lengths of time for the purpose of introducing the program as well as testing the effectiveness of its training methodology.
Dramatic progress has been demonstrated by all of the participants in this project. Particularly noteworthy is their remarkable advancement physically, emotionally, psychologically, cognitively and in mobility as well as in their daily functioning. These findings are documented in this section as:
* A listing of the benefits that have been realized by individuals through participation in our program
* The reporting of four case studies that highlight the progress made by participants that have been enrolled in the program
* Personal Evaluations of the program and a graphic depiction of the responses given in a survey that asked the participants for an evaluation of the progress they had made since entering the program
In addition, a description of two programs that have been instrumental in the development of various aspects of The Picciano Method™ appears in the section entitled "Ancillary Programs." Client testimonials on the value of these programs immediately follow each of these descriptions.
With our pilot project now having been completed and through the broadening and strengthening of our program over time with respect to education, training and research, it is our intention to update and further elaborate on these findings through publications, seminars, consultations and symposia.
Moreover, it is our goal to work with an academic and research partner on using these findings to assist children improve their education at the elementary and secondary school levels; and for understanding how to apply these results to those children with one or more complicating disabilities.
