The mission of the American Center for the Advancement of the Blind™ is to teach people to how to function and live their life in a way that is consistent with having sight.
We teach people how to (re-)connect with the world in the absence of vision to once again perform activities that are normally related to sight. We do this by teaching an Integrative Sensing Process™ called The Picciano Method™. The Picciano Method™ is unlike any other vision loss program in use today.
Our long-term strategic objective is to to become nationally recognized as a Center of excellence that provides leadership, opportunity and training for people with blindness that allows them to achieve, contribute, and live a happy life of self-reliance and independence.
We are doing this by giving people with blindness the knowledge and skills to meet their everyday needs and tasks, to live a "normal", personally fulfilling and productive life, and to integrate into society as a functional and contributing member with full recognition and acceptance.
